Projects Under Development

The following are examples of projects that have not yet completed validation, pilot projects and projects that provide a proof-of-concept. No carbon offsets have been generated from these projects; however, project developers may choose to embark on peer verification in the future.

Yale university’s Programmable Thermostat Project

In partnership with the City of New Haven’s Green and Healthy Homes Initiative and the ratepayer funded Home Energy Solution-Income Eligible program, the Yale Community Carbon Fund provided 125 programmable thermostats to low- to moderate-income New Haven homes.

Sewanee’s Zanmi Kafe Agroforestry project

Funded by a student “green fee”, Sewanee, the University of the South, is the first buyer of the ecosystem services provided by Haitian farmers, which include carbon sequestration and the protection and enhancement of watersheds and biodiversity.

Furman Community Conservation Corps

The Community Conservation Corps (CCC) aims to reduce energy consumption, promote homeowners’ financial stability, and increase environmental awareness in Greenville, South Carolina, and eventually generate carbon credits that can be used towards Furman’s carbon neutrality goal.

VCU’s Carver Community Forestry Offset Program

In 2017, the VCU Office of Sustainability, the Richmond Tree Stewards, and the Carver Area Civic Improvement League entered a partnership to launch the Carver Community Forestry Offset Program – a pilot program to explore the viability of generating carbon offsets through tree planting in Richmond, Virginia.
