Protocol Development Pathway

The Protocol Development Pathway outlines the process to develop a new offset protocol and complete technical expert review. Protocols that complete expert review may be approved for use through the Offsets Lab.

Please note: The Offsets Lab was formerly known as The Offset Network. As such, these templates may include the old program name. You may still work with and submit Offset Network templates to the Offsets Lab for consideration.

Project Plan Template

The Project Plan Template is to be completed by the project developer in the early stages as they coordinate and prepare for the project. The completed Project Plan will help determine the project's eligibility for inclusion in the Offsets Lab.

Project Description Document (PDD) Template

The PDD Template is to be completed by the project developer once the offset project is fully developed and ready for validation. The PDD builds upon the Project Plan.

Project Monitoring Report Template

The Monitoring Report Template is to be completed by project developers using emissions reductions data from the project. This is the document you will submit when requesting peer-verification of offsets from your project.

Attestation of Non-Double Counting

To be signed by the Project Operator to verify that all credits generated are accounted for properly.

Carbon Offset Vocabulary

Commonly used words & phrases in the carbon offsets community. Although we've tried our best to translate jargon into English some terms are unavoidable!
