New REPORT Featuring the offsets lab
The recently published Carbon Credits for Food Recovery Implementation Guide from the University of Minnesota highlights opportunities for carbon market programs to incentivize food rescue efforts, and thus, reduce carbon emissions by reducing food waste and enhancing food security.
The Implementation Guide includes sections describing the steps for food recovery organizations to implement a carbon offset program in the voluntary carbon market as well as through the Offsets Lab. The report shares how food recovery organizations can partner with higher education institutions to take advantage of the Offset Lab's innovative pathway, and pursue credits without the cost and scale barriers associated with the VCM. The report built on and highlights Carleton College's offset program with the Community Action Center-Northfield as a case study throughout, providing insights and lessons learned for future program iterations.
